What is the Multiplication Tables Check
This test mirrors the 'Multiplication Tables Check' that will be given to children at the end of Year 4. There are 25 questions and children have six seconds to answer each question and three seconds between questions. They are tested on their multiplication tables from two to 12.
Questions about the six, seven, eight, nine, and twelve times tables come up more often. The questions are generated randomly based on the rules of the MTC.
A good way to prepare is start early and build a daily routine practising the times tables. With regular practise you will learn all the questions and gain confidence. We suggest practising 10 to 15 minutes a day for optimal results. And to focus on the 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 times tables because these are the more tricky and the questions come up most often.
This multiplication tables test trail is an indicator to see if you are on the expected level. So you know if you need extra training or support. This to make sure you are ready for the real test in June.
The results are shown at the end of the test.
